Merry Christmas

Greetings, dear family and friends.

The Mullins family is growing. We now have 4 grandchildren! What a blessing grandchildren are! This photo is of John and Lynnette's children, Ella, age 5 1/2 and Christopher and Jack aged 3 1/2.

John and Lynnette live in Houston and are enjoying their life there. Sure wish it wasn't so darn far away though!

November 14 little Spencer Andrew was born to Andy and Stephanie in Boston.

We celebrated our 40th anniversary this year.

We are happy that at least we have two of our children living in Charlotte. Here is Dave enjoying a birthday dinner at our house.

We traveled half way around the globe this year too. Nothing exotic, that's just the number of miles we traveled this year! We made three trips to see Lynnette and John in Houston and three to see Stephanie and Andy in Boston. Barbara and I also did a girl's trip to Canada to visit my sister and for me to attend a weekend pajama party with some friends I've had since I've been 7 years old. We also went to Florida twice, once to visit John's sister and just recently to Longboat Key where we have a timeshare. Phew, that's a lot of traveling!

The economy has not been kind to us this year and John has been very stressed at work but he continues to retain his positive attitude. I am still enjoying making quilts and writing my blog. We love being involved at church and are constantly amazed to see what God is doing in our lives.

We hope that this email finds you well and joyful. Our door is always open if you ever come to Charlotte. This little poem seems to say it all.

I have a list of people

All written in a book -

And every year at Christmas time

I go and take a look.

And that is when I realise

That those names are all a part -

Not of the book they're written in

But of my very heart.

For each name stands for someone

Who has crossed my path some time -

And in that meeting they've become

A treasured friend of mine.

And once you've met some people

The years can not erase -

The memory of a pleasant word

Or of a friendly face.

So when I send an email

That is addressed to you -

It's because you're on that 'Special list'

Of folk that I'm indebted to.

And you are one of several folk

In times past that I've met -

And happen to be one of those

I don't want ever to forget.

And whether I have known you

For many years or few -

In some way you have had a part

In shaping things I do.

So this the Spirit of Christmas

That forever still endures -

May it leave its richest blessing

In the hearts of you and yours.
